An Update On Mommy Cat Monday

A week after Daddy Cat's passing, Mommy Cat is doing as well as I could hope for..I've brought Mommy Cat in the house for about an hour at a time, trying to get her used to being there on her own (she always came inside with Daddy Cat and mostly, they stayed close as they roamed and settled into the new environment); now, she will tell me she wants to go back to her garage apartment with an odd "meow" I've never heard from her before...I believe my poor girl is still somewhat confused=when she goes back into the garage after being inside the house, she walks from bed to bed, sniffing each one, almost like she's looking for Daddy Cat to be there...I washed most of the beds after his death, but left their cube and a mat they used together inside their tent alone to preserve his smell for her; of course, his beloved scratching post still has a lot of his fur on it too...I realize she is most comfortable in their garage apartment, but I worry about her being alone even though I know she will eventually move into the house full time with all of us when she is ready...I still can't believe my sweet boy is gone, so I can't imagine how Mommy Cat feels, losing her soul mate/constant companion...However, she is eating well, which is a relief to me and she is accepting a lot of cuddles/kisses from me, so I feel we are comforting each other as we grieve together...Thank you all for your concern/thoughts/prayers/support during our time of sorrow.

We are purring fer Mommy Cat. We know we all miss our housemates when they go over the Bridge, but we suspect there has never quite been a love and attachment and accusstoment as between Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat ever we know.

We think of her loss daily, and her uncertainty of what has happened must be very unsettling to her.

Whatever you girls can do to comfort and welcome Mommy Cat into the house and your welcoming paws and purrs would be very good fer her.

We hope she adjusts from this sad loss...

Poor Mommy Cat. I know she will adjust, but it's so sad that she misses Daddy Cat.

Oh thanks for the update on Mommy kitty. I have been so worried about her. Animals do grieve. It is take some time. Would any of the ladies go out in the garage with her just for a little while???? She is probably so confused. Glad she is still eating. Thanks for taking such good care of her.

We can understand that Mommy Cat is feeling lonely and looks for her sweet Daddy Cat. We hope she will gradually settle now even though they had been together for many years.

I's so sorry for your loss.

Befores I's was brought home, my Giant Lady told me about an orange kitty that lived here before. Her name was Sadie.

Sadie got really sick and passed over the rainbow bridge. For 6 months, Mia, cried and cried and got more and more depressed. She was very worried.

So Giant Lady went to the local shelter and founds me. Mia started eating normally again and stopped crying. Of course, she was too busy having me beat her.... ah... with me play with her a lot. ( Though she still goes to Sadie's favorite spot whens there are storms)

Mia is now happy again.

Giant Lady says it takes time. ((hugs))

Aw. We're glad you're comforting each other. As we learned when Tucker died, every cat is different in their grieving and accepting a big change in the household.

We are so sorry Mommy Cat is having a hard time. We went through a very similar situation five years ago and we learned the hard way, and too late, that attention is key here. Mommy Cat needs more attention now than ever in order to heal her heart. We are happy to hear you are comforting each other. Sending hugs and purrs...
