National Feral Cat Day

This is the 10th anniversary of National Feral Cat Day, started by Alley Cat Allies; the most humane way to help a feral cat is through the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program...and of course, if they choose to stay with you after TNR, they become family...

Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat have been part of our family for the last 10 years...They had a comfortable home in the garage at our old house, but were free to come and go; as the years passed, they chose to spend more and more time in their garage home, safe from the outside world...

Before moving into our new home a few weeks ago, I had central air conditioning and heat put in the garage and adapted the 2 car garage into a home just for Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat...This is a small glimpse of their new home, a safe, temperature controlled spot just for them, filled with fun toys, enjoyable cat trees and cozy beds...Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat, formerly feral cats, are truly my babies, an important part of our family...We hope more people will realize the importance of TNR and possibly welcome some of these sweet, loving stray kitties into their families.

  24. I didn't know it was National Feral Cat Day. That is great! Yes, feral cats are sometimes known to become very good pets and I agree with the TNR programs. We have that in the Ottawa, Ontario area with some of the larger colonies. Out my way they do not get that much help....usually just fed if they are lucky.
Have a great Saturday, Jacqueline. Hugs, Deb =^..^=x5

  34. That is so very very NICE what you did for Mommy and Daddy Cat! My mom takes care of ferals - it is a tradition passed down from her dad, I guess. They swarm her any time she goes outside, but when I'm visiting they beat feet! I can't even lure them to me with food! It's so nice to see your ferals and their good life. :)
